Raymond S. Morris, "Ray", went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 25th, 2017, at the age of 80.
Ray was born in Carlisle, Arkansas and grew up on a dairy farm. He graduated with a political science degree from the University of Arkansas. He and his wife "Sam" moved to Baton Rouge in 1965.
Ray was a trusted advisor to many as a financial planner with Raymond James Financial. Every year, for 40 years, Raymond James recognized Ray as a leading investment advisor in the nation. He practiced "financial planning" long before the current standardization of these concepts. Many respect him as a pioneer in the field.
Ray's greatest joy was serving others in the church and the community. He and "Sam" were one of the founding families of the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ. Ray dedicated his life to serve and love others and will be remembered with gratitude for his generosity. There are countless reasons why "Everybody loves Raymond" (one of Ray's favorite sayings); but the most obvious reason that everybody loved Raymond is because Ray loved everybody.
Ray will forever be remembered by his children Chuck (Leah) Morris, Mort (Raelon) Morris, Frances (Gary) Green, and Tanya (Troy) Stuart. Eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and other family members and friends will also remember him with love because of his impact on their lives. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra "Sam", and his brother, Eugene.
A celebration of Ray's life will be in the auditorium at the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ (8725 Jefferson Highway) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Visitation will be in the fellowship hall of the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ Friday night, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday before the service from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven (11817 Jefferson Highway). Ray's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Flowers may be sent directly to the church. Memorial donations may be made to Camp Smiling Acres, 650 Dentation, BR, LA 70808.
