Raymond Anthony Fryoux, Sr.

Raymond Anthony Fryoux, Sr., a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died peacefully at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1945, to Houston and Lena Dugas Fryoux.

He graduated from Redemptorist High School. He was a senior favorite, voted as having the best sense of humor, and played on the baseball team where he won the honor of All State Pitcher.

Raymond went to work at Allied Chemical (later to become Formosa Plastics) until he retired. He was known as a hard worker who never turned down a chance to work overtime. He married his high school sweetheart and started a family. He became very involved in the Boy Scouts of America program at St. Thomas More Catholic School, where he was leader of the largest Pack in the Baton Rouge area. Raymond was the friendliest, most outgoing person who never met a stranger.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; his older brothers, Gerald Fryoux and Richard (“Noonie”) Fryoux; and his nephew, Gerald Fryoux, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Roussel Fryoux; daughter Candy Wells; son Raymond Fryoux, Jr. (Christine); grandson Simon Ray Fryoux; sisters, Corine Sanchez and Jackie Hebert; brother-in-law, Gary Roussel; and numerous nieces and nephews who have fond memories of their Uncle ReeRee.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful employees of St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House, who not only gave Raymond the best care, but also gave love and support to his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Raymond Anthony Fryoux, Sr. to St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, beginning at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
