Raymond Day, age 78, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on February 27, 2023.
Raymond was a graduate of Istrouma High School class of 1962 and Louisiana State University class of 1966. He became a Chemical Technologist at Exxon Chemical and retired after 38 years. Raymond loved so many things about life including, outdoor bike riding, reading, camping, gardening, tinkering in his workshop, traveling/cruising, breadmaking/baking, winemaking, and being a DIY handyman.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne Gaydos Day; his sons, Brenton J. Day (Teresa) and Kevin M. Day (Kelly); his grandchildren, Emily Day, Anna Day, Austin Wintz (Lexie) and Allie Wintz; and his great-grandchildren Greyson Wintz and Camille Wintz.
He is preceded is death by his parents, Shelton R. Day and Josephine “Doll” Day and his sister, Annette D. McCann.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Resthaven Funeral Home beginning at 9am until services begin at 10am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice/Carpenter House of Baton Rouge.
Special thanks to the kind and caring staff of St. Joseph Hospice/Carpenter House, especially nurses Leslie, Misty, and Hope. Also, a special thanks to Annette and her “made with love” mashed potatoes.
