Rayetta Jean Burks Kayda, 83, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA.
Jean was a housewife that worked part time as a preschool and grammar school teacher and coach for St. Aloysius School. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Cathedral and a member of St. Louis King of France KC Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, working puzzles and reading during her spare time.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Rudy Kayda daughters, Ann Marie Whalen and Donna Kayda Nichols and husband Raymond sons, Patrick Kayda, Sr. and wife Betty, Lawrence Kayda and Stephen Kayda brothers, William Burks and wife Ann and Thomas Burks 8 grandchildren 14 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence C. Burks, Sr. and Marie J. Burks and brother, Lawrence C. Burks, Jr.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 865 Hatchell Ln., Denham Springs, from 10:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, conducted by Father Frank Uter. Pallbearers will be Jeans grandsons and nephews. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
