Randolph Piedrahita

Randolph "Randy" Piedrahita was born January 13, 1969 in Neptune, New Jersey. He passed away from an aggressive brain tumor on June 7, 2018. Randy was the youngest of four children of Hernando Piedrahita, an immigrant of Bogota, Columbia, and Athena B. Piedrahita, an immigrant of Beirut, Lebanon. He was a 1986 graduate of Episcopal High School. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and LSU Law Center where he graduated fourth in his class and served as Articles Editor of the Louisiana Law Review. After graduation, he served as a Law Clerk to Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Pike Hall, Jr. and U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Henry "Hank" Politz. In 1993, he joined the law firm Dué Guidry Piedrahita Andrews L.C. He loved his job and spent 25 years working as a trial lawyer with the firm.
Randy was a highly intelligent, energetic and shrewd person with a charismatic personality and an irreverent way about him which made him unique, charming and humorous. He had an incredible work ethic that made him shine as a student, lawyer and law enforcement officer. No matter what the task, he always worked exceptionally hard and did his very best. A masterfully skilled trial lawyer, Randy was a "natural" in the courtroom who never lost a jury trial. He was passionate about his clients and always gave them his best performance. His success and reputation earned him numerous awards in his field both locally and nationally. Randy's love of history, war and politics made him a true patriot of his country. He developed a heart for public service which led him to be active in local politics and to serve his community in many different capacities. In his spare time Randy worked hard to train and qualify with the EBRSO as a reserve Sheriff's deputy. He became a member of the SWAT team and served as its legal advisor. He also taught classes and participated in other training programs that qualified him as a hostage negotiator and crisis negotiator. At the end of every day, Randy found himself in the comfort of his home with his loving family, who he always protected and loved more than anything. He was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church. Randy is preceded in death by his father Hernando Piedrahita and mother Athena B. Piedrahita. He is survived by his beloved wife Julie Piedrahita, daughter Alexandra Piedrahita, son Adam Piedrahita, twin daughters Olivia and Athena Piedrahita, and brothers, Robert Piedrahita, Richard Piedrahita of Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, and Ronald Piedrahita of Arlington, Virginia. Pallbearers are Chris Whittington, Kirk Guidry, Scott Andrews, Scott Courrege, Logan Burt and Brandon Burt.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Parkview Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9am to 11am with the service beginning at 11am.
The family extends a special thank you to the law firm of Dué Guidry Piedrahita Andrews L.C., The Harrelson Family, Chris and Jo Ann Whittington, Guy and Susan Modica, Dr. Anthony Ioppolo, Dr. Kelly Scrantz, Dr. Jon Olson, Scott Duet, The Neuro-Oncology staff at the National Institutes of Health, Ikeetha Vince and Lular Domino as well as many friends for the love, support and help they gave throughout Randy's unfortunate illness.
