Randal Joseph Landry, age 66, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.
Randal was born on October 7, 1953, in Napoleonville, LA, to Russel Landry and Marion (Marian) Barras Vega. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1971 and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Centenary College in 1985. Randal was a veteran of the United States Airforce where he served as a Staff Sgt. specializing in intelligence operations technology. During his service, Randal's stations included: Texas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Guam, and South Korea. After almost eight years of service, Randal was honorably discharged in 1979. Randal worked as a project coordinator for G&E Engineering then CRA of Baton Rouge, LA, until he had a brain tumor surgery in 1999. Randal's life was greatly impacted from this surgery, but he continued to be a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Randal loved history, cars, war films and sweets. Randal was an avid story teller and always had a great joke to share with anyone he met.
Mr. Landry is survived by a wife, Diana Rose Provenza Landry, whom he shared 46 years of marriage with; he is survived by his four children, Shaun Landry and wife Danielle, Brandon Landry and wife Erica, Lauren Silvernail and husband Curtis, and Ryan Landry and wife Brianna; his brothers, Ricky Landry and wife Trunell, Sidney Vega IV, and sister, Suzanne Vice and husband Gerald; and his mother, Marian Vega. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Camryn, Luke, Grant, Curtis Vaughn IV, Ava, and Evelyn.
He is preceded in death by his father, Russel Landry; grandparents, Agnes and John Landry, and Whitney and Louise Barras; and his father and mother-in-law, Louis and Rosalie Provenza.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Landry, Brandon Landry, Ryan Landry, Curtis Silvernail III, Ricky Landry, Sidney Vega IV, Charles Madden III, and Dr. Louis J. Provenza,
A private family service will be held this Wednesday at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery, in Baton Rouge, La., and he will be laid to rest in the Garden of Redemption II. Deacon Ricky Patterson, will be officiating the committal service.
The family of Randal wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, for their care and compassion, and to his primary care physician, Dr. David Carver and nurses, Stephanie and Connie who have cared for Randal for many years.
Due to current circumstances, a memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends to celebrate the life of Randal.
