Rachel W. Allred

August 7, 1940 — March 5, 2025

Rachel W. Allred passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born to Herschell F. Warren and Ida Mae Mondart on August 7, 1940, at Fort Sumner, New Mexico. She had a love for learning and valued her continued education long after her college years.

Rachel was a creative and talented ceramist. She once owned her own ceramics shop, where she would teach anyone willing to learn the craft and enjoyed volunteering with children for holiday events. Rachel enjoyed many types of arts and crafts, including sewing and crocheting. She also loved the outdoors and fishing, her backyard and spending time on her patio watching birds, and loving her little dog, Molly. She was an avid reader making trips to the library every week for another stack of books, and developed a hunger for the Word of God during her last years of life. Spending time with the family became the most important thing in her life and greatly appreciated family visits, and grandchildren's hugs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Maureen Landry; sister, Frances Holden; grandson, Michael Landry; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Landry.

Rachel is survived by daughters, Cindy Carpenter (Randy), Darlene Landry, Brenda LeBlanc (James Mohs), Kathy Gunn (Scott); sons, Doug Landry (Ronette), Duke Landry (Betty), and Mike Landry (Madilyn); sister, Barbara Funderburk; nephew, David Holden; Thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, the fourth-floor staff at Baton Rouge General Hospital, and everyone at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice for their kindness and dedicated care during this difficult time.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Terry Workman of Victory Harvest Church.
