Quentin Joseph Dawson was born on October 11, 1933, in Morganza, LA to Dionysia de la Cruz and Robert C. Dawson, Sr. He passed away on April 3, 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA. His grandparents were Ida Oubre and Charles W. Dawson of Morganza, LA and Sally Elliot and Quinton Jacinto de la Cruz of Manila Village and Gretna, LA.
Survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Burns Dawson, and five children: Mary Lynn Dawson Ziober (Ron) of Bryan, Texas; Quentin J. Dawson, Jr. (Joe) and wife Nancy of Baton Rouge; Barbara Jane Dawson Smith (Mike) of Roswell, GA; Patricia Ann Dawson White (Trey) of Houston, TX; and James (Jimmy) Dawson and wife Paula of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren: Auburne Ziober Diaz, Carley Ziober Sutter, Mindy Ziober Still, Amy Dawson Duffy, Alaine Dawson Williamson, Audrey Dawson, Adrienne Dawson, Luke, Aaron and Mark Smith, Meghan, Travis, Jack and Emma White and Payton and Kensley Dawson, and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, siblings Lyle Ann Dawson Eichsteadt, Calvert Dawson, Mary Dael Dawson Olinde, Robert C. Dawson, Jr., Mae Merryll (Minna) Dawson Kaiser and Blase Dawson.
Educated at St. Joseph’s Academy in New Roads, LA and attended LSU before entering USAF’s Pilot Training. He retired from USAF active and reserve duty as Lt. Col. after thirty-two years service. He was a frequent attendee at Manresa Retreat House and served as Group 34 Co-Captain for many years. Retired from Acme Refrigeration of Baton Rouge after thirty-five years in sales.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge; from 9:45 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will be at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in St. Francisville at 1:30 PM.
