Phyllis Iddins, age 72, a resident of Baton Rouge, La., passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at home on January 21, 2021. A Michigan native, born in Detroit to a large Polish Catholic family, she lived in Flint and Ludington, Mich. until moving to Magnolia, Ark. in 1982, then to Baton Rouge for the last 28 years. After being diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis as a teen, she never let it define her. She did things at her own pace. Phyllis was an accomplished oil painter, an avid reader, a skilled bowler, swimmer, softball player, Pokeno player, and life-long gardener. She was a member of the Albemarle Spouses Association, Sans Souci, and the American Civil Liberties Union. Phyllis was always rooting for the underdog and donated to multiple charities including St. Jude, the Baton Rouge Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army, and the MS Society. She is preceded in death by her sister, Paulette Jaster, and her parents Caroline and Edwin Jaster. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, David H. Iddins, her daughters, Mandy Harris and Carrie Fischer with her spouse Greg Fischer, her siblings, Peg Sperlich and spouse Mark, Pat Miller and her spouse Brad, Pam Atkinson, Penny Keller, and Edwin Jaster Jr and his spouse Marina, her grandchildren David and Elle Harris, and Charles and Claire Scallan.
