Phillip Joseph Roy passed away on March 19 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born in Alexandria to John and Elaine Roy on November 8, 1973, Phillip attended LSU where he met his wife of nearly twenty years, Karen Fernbaugh Roy. He was dedicated to his true loves, golf and the LSU Tigers, and eagerly counted down the days until SEC football season began each year.
Phillip's favorite pastimes included being a ham and making people wonder what was going on. He contributed to conversations with spontaneous noises, asking inappropriate questions, and enjoyed walking the wrong way down the airport moving walkways. In spite of this, he had a dazzling intellect, and enjoyed a twenty-year career as an electrical engineer and partner of Horizon Consultants in Gonzales, LA for nearly a decade. A sensitive and compassionate man with an artistic side, he completed many pencil renderings of things that haunted him, including one of his father "T-John Roy" singing karaoke.
Phillip cared for his family deeply, and loved attending his son Joseph's football games, seeing his talented son Austin perform in his band, arguing politics with his lovely daughter Caroline and teasing his wife Karen. His family will carry his light with them and there is a tremendous sadness for his loss. He will be sorely missed by all of those he touched.
Phillip is preceded in death by his nephew Hunter, brother Kenny, and his father John. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Caroline, sons Austin and Joseph, mother, Elaine Roy, brothers Michael (Jane), Randy (Lori), Sam (Nancy), and Eddie, sister Karla (Dwayne), and many nephews and nieces.
A closed memorial service celebrating his dynamic life will be held with family and close friends in attendance in Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
