Phillip Dyer Peck passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the age of 85. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on May 12, 1938, to Samuel and Florence Hensley Peck. In high school, Phil excelled at playing football. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Ramstein AFB in Germany during the Cold War, where he served as an Air Police Officer.
Upon returning to Chattanooga, he began a career with Credit Thrift. A promotion moved him and his family to Baton Rouge, where he opened a Credit Thrift office. Ambitious and driven, he established his own company, Revpro and Associates Inc., specializing in buying, selling, and leasing heavy equipment. From this he found his niche, becoming a Sr. Accredited Appraiser, often serving as an expert witness. His business took him to Mexico, Canada and throughout the United States. Phil taught countless courses and lectured at numerous seminars. He was knowledgeable and well-respected in his field and was the definition of “a self-made man.”
In 1974, he married Stella Bello Duke. They enjoyed a long and happy life together, with untold wonderful memories of time spent with family. Phil loved dancing with his wife, traveling with the family, cigars, golf, fishing, playing cards and listening to his music…LOUD! He had many titles in his life, but “Paw Paw” was his favorite.
He is survived by his daughter Gigi Peck Leek (Dennis); his children by marriage Carolyn Duke, Terry Duke (Robin), Angela Duke Ferrara (Chris), Ivan Duke (Patti) and Johnny Leckert; grandchildren Amy Triche, Brad Leckert, Clay Duke, Jason Leckert, April Gremillion, John Leckert, Taylor Duke, William Duke, Kate Dorland, Anna Duke, Phillip Duke, Christopher Ferrara, and Connor Ferrara; and 18 great-grandchildren. Phil is also survived by his sister-in-law Brenda Bello Badeaux (Billy); niece Kim McCoy; nephew Tim Moore (Julie); his friend, Kathleen Kearns; as well as countless other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Stella Mae Peck; sister Sandra Sue Kilgore; stepchildren, Janice Duke Leckert and Kelvin Duke.
