Phillip Wayne Hicks, age 67, native of Anniston, AL, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
He graduated in 1966 from Anniston High School in Anniston, AL. Soon after graduating, he moved to Baton Rouge and started working for Exxon, where he quickly became one of the youngest employees to become a supervisor.
After 38 years with Exxon, Phil retired to be at home with his family while doing "whatever he wanted to do", and keeping abreast of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Darlene Hargroder Hicks; sons, Phillip Noah Hicks and Christopher Stacy Hicks; daughter, Nikki Stanley and husband Jon; granddaughter; TaylorAnne; sisters, Linda Griggs and Flora Crabtree; special nieces and nephews, Jim, Angie, Scott, Brandy, David, and Callie; as well as many other beautiful nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Noah Hicks; father-in-law, Charles Hargroder; brother, Charles Gilmer, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Griggs and Henry Crabtree; and sister-in-law, Mary Gilmer.
The family takes solace in knowing that he loved God and is in Heaven with loved ones gone before him. He will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, from 1:00 pm until services at 3:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Jon Stanley, David Gilmer, Mark Gilmer, Jim Griggs, Scott Griggs, and Trey Griggs.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
