Peter Anthony Dragna, 79, a resident of Baton Rouge, La., passed away on April 20, 2015, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Morgan City, La., Pete graduated from Louisiana State University and retired from BASF where he worked as a mechanical engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a founding member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Pete enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, reading, and making fig cakes and Italian bread.
Pete is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ellen Webster Dragna of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Donna Dragna Bahlinger and husband, Tom, of San Antonio, TX; Andrea Dragna of Cypress, TX; one son, Blase Dragna and wife Cheree of Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Christine Bahlinger and Sara Bahlinger; one brother, Andrew Dragna; one sister, Frances Dragna Gilmore and husband Tim Gilmore; and his dog, Josie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Guarisco Dragna and Joseph Dragna.
Family request visitation hours be observed on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Visitation hours will resume on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Rd., until A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church or to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, in Pete's Memory.
