Pearl T. Lafayette, age 73, of Baton Rouge, passed away comfortably at Baton Rouge General's Butterfly Wing on December 6, 2016 following a prolonged battle with cancer. Funeral service will be conducted by Executive Pastor Lee Hailey at Parkview Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, on Friday, December 9 at 11 a.m. with time for refreshment and fellowship following.
Pearl was born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Lloyd and Edith Trahan on July 21, 1943. She attended school in Scott, Louisiana; Southwest Louisiana Regional Vocational Technical School in Crowley; Northeast Louisiana Learning Center in Monroe; and Baton Rouge Regional Technical Institute. Pearl retired at the age of 70 following employment in accounting departments for a variety of companies. She was an active and long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Pearl's greatest enjoyment in life was time spent with family-from travels with her husband, Jim, to time spent with her granddaughters supporting each and every activity in which they participated.
Pearl is preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Trahan, and her three sisters, Joyce Trahan, Jeanette Richard, and Helen Vallot.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Lafayette of Baton Rouge; her mother, Edith Arnould of Lafayette; her daughter Jan Sibley and husband Richard of Baton Rouge; her two granddaughters, Madeleine and Emma of Baton Rouge; her two sisters, Thelma Domingue and husband Adam of St. Martinville, Virginia Schexnayder and husband Clifford of Forest Hill; and her two brothers Roland Trahan and wife Ginger of Monterey, Bradley Trahan and wife Cynthia of Duson.

Burial will be at the Wright Cemetery, Sikes, Louisiana, with close family members at a future date.
