Paul Heurtevant

Paul Anthony Heurtevant, from Baton Rouge, passed away on December 15, 2022.

Paul was born to Charles Heurtevant and Grace Blanchard in Baton Rouge on December 15, 1970 where he was raised and spent most of his life. He loved his home state and was passionate about LSU sports and Saints football.

Paul attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1992. Paul realized profound success in his field. He was hired at Formosa Plastics Corporation, Louisiana in June of 1992 as a Chlor-alkali Engineer and went through a series of promotions that included a move to Texas in 2004. In 2016 he returned to Louisiana as Assistant Vice President and Plant Manager. In June of 2021 he became Assistant Vice President of Vinyl Operations and Planning Division Head. He cared deeply about his field, its role in the world, and his colleagues. He contributed as an active Board Member of the Louisiana Chemical Association and the Greater Baton Rouge Industrial Alliance.

In 1996, he married Rachel Swayze. Paul loved Rachel with unmatched passion and devotion. Together they raised their beautiful two children. He was a devoted husband and father, deriving his greatest joy in life from his wife, children and his grandchildren.

Paul had a playful and silly side that those who love him will never forget. Those who knew him best will remember him as a kind, fair, dependable, helpful, generous and deeply patient. Despite the many challenges he endured in life, he always maintained a brave face and incredible resilience that inspired those around him. His faith continued to play a large role in his life.

Paul is survived by his wife of 26 years Rachel Heurtevant, children Paul Anthony Heurtevant II of Houston, Texas and Ciara Lintzen Nelson (Chase) of League City, Texas, sister Laura A. Donegan (Jordan, Owen, Connor) of Portland, Oregon, mother Grace Heurtevant and grandchildren Cameron Nelson and Carter Nelson.

Paul is preceded in death by his father Charles W. Heurtevant and his daughter Caitlin Victoria Heurtevant.

Visitation will take place at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 9:30AM with Mass immediately following at 11AM. A reception will immediately follow Mass at the home of Rachel and Paul Heurtevant.
