Lieutenant Colonel Paul M. Griffin, Jr.

Paul Manuel Griffin, Jr., Lt. Col. USAF, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age 85.

Paul was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Masters degree in Engineering. He honorably served in the United States Air Force for 28 years, where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a C-130 navigator and a proud Vietnam veteran. He worked as an engineer for the State of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Paul was an avid bookworm, who enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Colonel.”

Paul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Babin Griffin; daughters, Deborah Griffin and Dr. Donna Nunnally (Jimmy); sons, Paul M. Griffin, III and Damian Burdette; grandchildren, Sarah Abigail and Jacob Safer, and Elissa and Victoria Nunnally; and great-grandchildren, Mia, Miley, and Mason Safer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul M. Griffin, Sr. and Beatrice Krejci Griffin; and granddaughter, Morgan Safer.

Visitation will take place at St. George Catholic Church on Friday, September 8, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM until the Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
