Paul V. Cassisa, Sr. passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, just 10 days before his 93rd birthday. He was born in New Orleans to Vito Cassisa and Anna Signorino Cassisa.
Paul graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans and Loyola University of New Orleans. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University College of Law and graduated first in his class.
He was a long-time parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in New Orleans, where he served as both a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He moved to Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina and was a parishioner of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church.
Paul practiced law for more than 60 years, and was a Senior Partner at Bernard, Cassisa, Elliott & Davis in Metairie until he retired in 2011. He also served as a Captain in the Louisiana National Guard JAG Unit.
Paul was married to Margaret Alice ("Mickey") Desormeaux Cassisa for almost 65 years, until her death in 2022. He was the loving father of their five children: Yvonne C. Fraychinaud, deceased (Eric); Paul V. Cassisa. Jr. (Jane); Thomas J. Cassisa (Carol); Margaret Cassisa Hecker (David); and Michelle M. Cassisa. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., in Baton Rouge on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will take place at Lake Lawn in Metairie on Tuesday August 27, 2024.
