Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Patrick died on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, in a helicopter crash. He was a native of Monroe, the son of James and Barbara Walters and a resident of Murrells Inlet, S.C. Patrick was a retired Marine Corps captain who was awarded numerous medals and honors. He was the base manager and pilot for Omniflight Helicopters Inc. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend, and was especially fond of his children. He loved to cook, loved good food, laughter and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and will be missed by everyone he touched. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Charlene, of Murrells Inlet; daughters, Avery and Tegan, both of Murrells Inlet; son, Ethan, of Baton Rouge; parents, James and Barbara Cobb Walters, of Baton Rouge; brother, Mike Walters and family, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Patrick was predeceased by a brother, Donald Barry Walters; grandparents, Mercelle Lestage and William Walters; great-grandmother, Rita Lestage; and grandparents, Blanche and Owen Cobb. A memorial service was held at St. Michael Church in Murrels Inlet on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Visitation will be held in Baton Rouge at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at 11:30 a.m., conducted by Scott Schmieding, pastor.
