Patricia Murphy

It is with heavy hearts, tears of sadness and tears of joy that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet mother Patricia “Pat” Murphy.  Our mother completed her heavenly assignment here on earth December 21, 2018 and went to be with our Lord.

Heavy hearts and tears of sadness because she will be missed dearly by those who knew her here in this life, but also tears of joy because she shall never again suffer the effects of the cancer that has plagued her body here on earth. Tears of joy because heaven has gained another angel, we her family, now have a guardian angel and she has been reunited with the love of her life, our father, Ronald “Ronnie” Murphy who she was married to for 33 years before his passing in June 1998.  We know that they are now back together again for all eternity.

Through the years she had several jobs. Above all, our mother was a homemaker who kept an immaculate house and yard but most of all she was devoted to her family. She raised three children and also helped to rear nine grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and gathering for the holidays.

She leaves behind a stepfather, John Joy, a brother, Cecil McGraw, a sister, Tammy McClendon, three children, Scott Murphy (Margaret Murphy), Candice Mackey (Michael Mackey), and Jamie Murphy (Jennifer Murphy). Also left behind, nine grandchildren. Austin, Corey, Wesley, Lauryn, Hunter, Tara, Peyton, Lily and Graeme.She is preceded in death by her mother, Iva Joy and her father, Lloyd McGraw.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, December 27th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with services to follow. Burial will also be at Resthaven.Pallbearers will be Nathan Boudreaux, Stephen Halphen, Graeme Miracle, Cory Murphy, Peyton Murphy, Dustin Rabalais, Dave Rudy, Ric Smith, Damian Zumo, and Dustin Zumo.

There are no words to truly express our thankfulness to the staff at Mary Bird Perkins and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for the care and compassion they have provided our mother with for ten years. It is certainly appreciated and has not gone unnoticed. Thank you to all who were her involved in her care
