Patricia “Pat” Morgan, dedicated mother, joyful grandmother, loyal sister, world explorer, aspiring golfer, organ donor, and lover of a good pun, passed into eternal life on Monday, January 17, 2021 at the age of 70.
Born on February 9th, 1951, she graduated from Our Lady of Fatima High School, Louisiana State University, and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She lived all but two of her 70 years in southern Louisiana, with a short stint teaching in Northern Michigan. There she learned to ski, scuba dive, and dress for the cold. In 1980 she married her second husband, Bob Morgan. He remained her best friend and favorite person to argue with until his passing in 2008. Together they traveled the world, yelled at golf balls, shared kidneys, and made each other better as they raised their children and delighted in the laughter of their grandchildren. Pat was a teacher at heart and a master of words in both her personal life and career. She taught English at LSU for 26 years and taught hundreds of children how to swim each summer. She loved storytelling, getting lost in a good book, mastering new skills, traveling the world, and editing her children’s homework assignments. Those who love her will remember her stubborn love, quick wit, delight in a good deal, and zeal for Christmas decorations. Her greatest joy by far was her grandchildren. These three young men were her “hearts walking outside of her body,” as she found every reason to shower them with love, toys, and new adventures every chance she got.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Bob Morgan; her parents John and Patricia Guillet; and her brother James Guillet. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Eva) Froeba and Margaret Morgan; three handsome grandsons, Colton, Liam, and Wyatt; her siblings, John Guillet, Beth Guillet, Carolyn Broussard, Tommy Guillet, Ruth Casey, David Guillet, and Stephen Guillet; a loving extended family, and countless friends. Pat’s family is forever grateful to the staff at Magnolia Brook and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their thoughtful care and attention these last months.
