A longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Pocahontas, Va., she passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer and other illness. She was 71. A memorial service will be held in her honor at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Lee Allen. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Guy Norwood Fisher Jr.; daughters, Nancy Fisher Lemoine and husband Marcel, of Baton Rouge, and Susan Fisher Windley and husband Scott, of Alexandria, Va.; and five grandchildren, Madeline Eads Lemoine, Mary Grace Lemoine, Sarah Anne Windley, Hannah Ranae Windley, and Andrew Scott Windley. She is also survived by a brother, William T. Eads and his wife, Donna, of Palm Desert, Calif. She was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and Virginia Intermont College. She was a warm, generous person who always kept her sense of humor and enjoyed gardening, cooking, beach combing, politics, spoiling her grandchildren, and playing bridge with her treasured friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society .
