Patricia DeMarte, age 76, native of Grove City, PA, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Ella Mae Dunmire, brother, Arthur Dunmire, and husband, Joseph DeMarte. She is survived by her sister, Mary McFarland and son, Joseph DeMarte and daughter, Tricia DeMarte.
Patricia graduated from Grove City High School in 1957 and attended Clarion University where she was a member of the Sigma, Sigma, Sigma sorority graduating in 1962 with her Bachelors of Science degree in Library Science. Following graduation, Patricia married Joseph DeMarte of Kane, PA, and worked as a Librarian maintaining and developing systems in western Pennsylvania. Over the following years, she put her husband through graduate school where he earned his Doctorate Degree in Ecology from the University of Pittsburgh.
Patricia was a loving mother who raised her two children alongside her husband of 43 years until his passing in 2006. Patricia loved her family and was a devout Christian as a faithful member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, and was honored as United Methodist Woman of the Year in 2010. As a parishioner of the church, she was very active in welcoming newcomers and enjoyed taking part in church activities. Patricia's heart and home was always open to anyone, and she will be deeply missed by everyone she has touched.
Friends and relatives are invited to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 17510 Monitor Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70817, on Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 2:00 pm until memorial services at 3:00 pm.
