Patricia Bateman

Patricia Ann DeArmond Bateman was born on May 2nd 1942 to Eloise Bush DeArmond and Allen Samuel DeArmond. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and Louisiana State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's degree in Education. She taught in Baton Rouge and in New Orleans at both the elementary and secondary levels and loved working with children. She was forced to retire from teaching in 1988 because of a wide variety of illnesses. She suffered a major stroke in 1994, and her health continued to decline until she passed away on August 1, 2015. She was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

She is survived by Paul B. Bateman, her husband of over 50 years, as well as daughter Allison Roark and husband Kenneth Roark, Angela Hannie and husband Patrick Hannie, and son Patrick Bateman and his wife, Holly Bateman. She is also survived by a brother, Allen DeArmond, and six grandchildren; Malynn Bateman, Kaleigh Bateman, Molly Hannie, Daniel Hannie, Ryan Roark, and Matthew Roark.

Her family is deeply grateful for the kindness shown her by a wide range of medical professionals including Drs. Richard Todd Cooley, Gerard Dynes, Carter Ballart, Charles Naul, and Nurse Erin Doiron. The family is also deeply grateful for the kindness and support given by the nurses and aides of Bridgeway Home Health and Hospice. Their concern, attentiveness, and support were vital to the family during Patsy's illness.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Terry Ellis.

Pallbearers will include Wade Bateman, Todd Bateman, David Broome, William Calendar, Joel McClain, and Wallace McKenzie.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
