Patricia Valeton Aubert, 83, left this world peacefully and without pain on the morning of January 25, 2021, after a long and hard-fought battle with metastatic melanoma. She was born in 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she later met her soul mate and the love of her life, Clinton Aubert, on a blind date. Patricia and Clinton soon married and relocated to Baton Rouge, where they raised their four children: Pam, Lisa, Jan, and Gary. After their children were grown they also raised their granddaughter, Crystal Aubert Barbazon, as one of their own. Patricia and Clinton were happily married for 53 years.
To know Pat was to love her. She never met a stranger and made friends over the course of her whole life. She enjoyed playing tennis, painting, and traveling. In addition to traveling abroad, she prided herself on having traveled to 49 of the 50 states, only missing Alaska. Towards the end of her life she especially enjoyed her yearly trip to Maine with her friend Ted De Baene. She also greatly enjoyed her weekly date nights with Ted.
More than anything else, though, Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved being a mother so much that she dedicated her life to staying at home to raise her children. Each of them thinks they were the favorite, so she must have done something right. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and a smile that could light up any room. She was also selfless, always putting others’ needs before her own. All of her children will attest that she was the kindest person they have ever known.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Charles Aubert, and her parents, Vincent and Irma Valeton. She is survived by her children, Pam Aubert, Lisa Aubert Graphia and spouse Mickey Graphia, Jan Aubert Roy and spouse Sanford Roy, and Gary Aubert and spouse Rhonda Longino Aubert; grandchildren, Crystal Aubert Barbazon and spouse Les Barbazon, Monique Cockerham, Taylor Cockerham and spouse Paula Gomez Cockerham, Mickey Graphia and fiancée Cristina Terhoeve, Cody Graphia, and Ashley and Forrest Roy; great-grandchildren, London and Brock Dees, Les, Kayden, and Kohlbin Barbazon, and Lucas Cockerham; siblings, Val Adamo and David Valeton. She also leaves behind her friend Ted De Baene and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Falcon at Baton Rouge Clinic, Drs. Cataldo and Wang at Mary Bird Perkins, Dr. Glitza at MD Anderson, and the many care providers at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge.
