Pat Stephen Brown Jr., age 84, who was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on April 15, 2015 at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.
Pat was a graduate of Farmhaven High School, Copiah Lincoln Junior College and Mississippi State University. He also served his country for two years during the Korean War with the 854th Medical Battalion, where he reached the rank of sergeant major. He was the founder of Pat S. Brown Claims Service (now Brown Claims Management Group) in 1967, and for over 60 years had a distinguished career as an independent insurance claims adjuster. He was a former President of the Baton Rouge Claims Association. Pat was a member of University Baptist Church where he served on numerous boards and committees, and where he especially loved being a Children's Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Trinity Union and was a former member of the Capital City Kiwanis Club. He served as chairman of the book collection committee for The Friends of the LSU Library. Pat loved life and loved people. He treasured time spent with his family and the fellowship with his numerous friends. To know him was truly to love him.
Pat is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Cooper Brown; one son, Stephen Lamar Brown and his wife Cindy; one daughter, Mary Jane Brown Cutrer and her husband Michael; five granddaughters, Dr. Lauren Brown Sanders and her husband Bill, Haleigh Turner, Mary Katherine Brown, Hope Turner and Madison Cutrer; one sister, Nan Lott, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Pat and Ella Mae Moore Brown, and his siblings Ruth Dean Brown and Dr. Will Brown.
The family request that visiting hours be observed on Sunday April 19, 2015 at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Road Baton Rouge, LA 70808, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visiting hours will resume on Monday April 20, 2015 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM at University Baptist Church.
Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 11817 Jefferson Highway Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southern Baptist Children's Home, University Baptist Church, or the charity of your choice.
