Opal passed away at Amber Terrace Assisted Living Community on Friday, January 6, 2017, at the age of 90. She and her family moved to Baton Rouge from Dekalb County, Alabama, in 1944, soon thereafter joining First United Methodist Church, where she has been an active, devoted member ever since. She was retired from Entergy Corp. after a lifetime of service. After retirement Opal and her sister were avid travelers, sightseeing the country with guided bus tours. She joins her parents, George Stanley and Mae Lackey Tidmore, and her sister Memory Sims Tidmore with their Lord in heaven; and is survived by numerous cousins in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Graveside services will be observed at Roselawn Cemetery on Wednesday, January 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM, with the service conducted by Minister Fernando Rivera. Family and friends may sign the on-line memorial or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com. In lieu of flowers, denotations may be made in her memory to First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
