May Hoover
November 3, 1935 – November 22, 2022
Ola “May” Hoover, 87, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died of natural causes on November 22, 2022, at Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge.
May was a loving mother, mother-in-law, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and twin of Fay. She was a 1954 graduate of Istrouma High School and studied 2 years at LSU.
“Do what you Love”. She chose to raise 4 children while supporting her husband’s career as a Louisiana State Trooper (Lt. John L. Hoover). She provided all the love and comforts plus more a mother could supply. She was gifted, naturally creative and crafty, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and singing. With a saucy sense of humor. She shared her gifts with so many; those she knew and those she never met.
Those proceeding her death are her parents J.C. & Olymph Barber, 2 siblings, Jessie ‘Cat’ Barber, Doris Barber, and husband John Lucean Hoover. Her day of death was also their anniversary, and they’ll celebrate together again.
Her surviving siblings Rueben Barber (& wife Iris) and twin Fay Lolley; and her children will forever cherish their mother’s beautiful life, John Lloyd Hoover (& wife Donna), Jamie Broussard (& husband Keith), Jeri Hoover Mayes (& Blaine), and Jodie Hoover Bozeman. Grandchildren, Jessie, Danielle, Noe’, Tyler, Taylor, Jordan, Alex, Corey and Karen (caboose and favorite). And great grandchildren, Ryleigh May, Hudson, Madeline, Greyson, Amalia, Artaea, Emerson, Kadence, Koen, Krewe and Haddox. And a host of family (including bonus daughter Laura Welborn) & friends.
Following her wishes, there will be a brief graveside service at 10:00 am Monday November 28th at Resthaven Garden of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, La., 70816.
