Norman Sutton, Sr.

October 2, 1921 — November 18, 2015

Norman M. Sutton, Sr. (Billy) of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18th at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was 94 years old and a World War II veteran. Norman was born in Reserve, LA. He and his wife, Marie, started Sutton's Dry Cleaning in 1962. Norman enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a great story teller and a prankster. He loved memories, laughter, his country and going to 4 o'clock Mass at St. George Catholic Church; but most of all, Norman loved spending time with his family.

Norman Sr. served his country as a member of the 9th Marines, 3rd Division. He fought on three front lines in the Pacific; Guam, Guadalcanal, and Bougainville during WWII- he was a Rifle Sharp Shooter and Pistol Expert.

Norman Sr. is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marie (Vicknair) Sutton; nine children, his two sons and their wives, Norman Jr. and Jeanne Sutton, Michael and Amy Sutton, and seven daughters and their husbands, Kathy Delafield and Bryant, Brenda Tucker and Wayne, Debbie Bridges and Clive, Jr., Susan Bloodworth and William, Sandra Dykes and Fiancé Don Watts, Jr., Cindy Gauthier and Billy, and Michelle Plauche' and Gene; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six sisters; and four brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver, Sr. and Lolita Sutton; sister, Antoinette Sutton; and two brothers, Oliver Sutton, Jr. and Francis Gary Sutton.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA.

Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 21st at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St George Dr, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, where Norman Sr. was a member for over 50 years, from 12:00 PM until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM.

Entombment will immediately follow in Church Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be his sons and sons-in-law.
