Norman Schewe

October 3, 1938 — October 10, 2015

Norman Lee Schewe, age 77, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2015. He was well loved and his sense of humor will be missed.

Norm served honorably for more than 20 years in the United States Navy. He retired as a Lt. Commander receiving many commendations including the Navy Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Staff Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Ribbon with Device, and Vietnam Service Medal.
Norm is survived by his wife, Louise Lapeze Schewe; his two daughters, Suzanne Schewe Kratz (Peter) and Julie Ryland Prender (Joel); his four sons, David Schewe (Judith), John Ryland (Carrie), Timothy Schewe (Cathy), and Robert Ryland (Irina); his grandchildren, Emily, Jenson, Alannah, Eliza and Sarah Kratz, Kaitlyn and Ryan Prender, Molly and Katie Schewe, Lauren McCormick, Thomas and Kevin Sochia, Isabelle and Catherine Ryland, Zachary, Trista and Zane Schewe, and Andrew Ryland; his sister Diana Walsh (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Jesse "MiMi" Schewe; infant son, Michael Schewe; sisters, Beverly Carr and Sharon Held; and his first wife, Faye Lewis, mother of his children, David, Timothy, Suzanne, and Michael.

The family request that visiting hours be observed on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 12:00 PM until the time of services.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
