Norma passed away peacefully on August 20, 2016, at the home of her daughter and surrounded by family members. She was 90 years old.
Norma was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 13, 1926. As a child she and her younger brother, Bill, enjoyed going to the Saturday morning movies. As a teenager she spent a lot of time watching her baby sister, Maureen. Norma had fond memories of that time and treated her sister as a living baby doll. Later in life, she went to work at NorthWestern Bell for many years.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul Kissel, her parents, Michael and Margaret Novak, and son, William Kissel.
Norma is survived by a brother, William Novak (Betty); a sister, Maureen Votypka (Ray); a daughter, Deborah Smithling (Ernie), a son, Kelly Kissel (Susan); ten grandchildren, Christy Kissel Lush, Michele Aucoin, Rebekah Kissel, David Kissel, Layne Donellan, Jacob Kissel, Ryan Smithling, Eric Smithling, Colleen Kissel, and Andre' Kissel, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visiting hours will resume on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Drive, at 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. George Catholic Church Cemetery.
