Norma Louise Haskins Highsmith Herpich, at the age of 81, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday morning, March 1, 2010, at Old Jefferson Community Care Center. She was born in Marthaville on Oct. 11, 1928. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, March 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting on Wednesday, March 3, from 9 a.m. until religious service at noon. Entombment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Service will be conducted by the Rev. Joey Beeson. She Is survived by her daughter and soninlaw, Kayren and Daryl Besson son, Daniel Highsmith and Janace Highsmith sister, Jean Aime grandchildren, Jason Besson, Joshua Besson, Andrea Evans and Kim Taylor greatgrandchildren, Seth Klug, Chad Michael Klug and Jacob Besson stepdaughters, Edwina Efferson and Mary Louise Irvin and numerous loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wiley Daniel Highsmith, Dr. E.J. Herpich parents, Homer Haskins, Edwina Haskins Varnell stepfather, Clyde Varnell and her brother, Jerral Haskins. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason Besson, Joshua Besson, Seth Klug, Louis Aime, David Joffrion and George Molandes Jr. She was a loving mother, stepmother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and aunt. She was a Christian who loved to travel, fish, entertain, dance, garden and her family more than life itself. Her travels took her to Russia, Hong Kong, Scotland, England, Italy, France, Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean. One of her many gifts were her sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She had many friends and she treasured each one dearly. She was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Old Jefferson Community Care Center for the excellent care they gave to Mrs. Norma during her stay. Also to Linus Juneau for being such a true and loving dear friend through the years.
