Norma Eichelberger

August 4, 1934 — June 26, 2018

Norma Jean Shaffer Eichelberger, age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Nottingham Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. She was born August 4, 1934, in Harrisburg, PA, and grew up in New Cumberland, PA. She later moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, then to Baton Rouge in 1968.

She was known as "Grand Norm" and "Gan Gan" by her grandchildren, where she spent countless hours watching them on the tennis courts, baseball games, and theater productions. She always looked forward to football season, was a huge LSU Tiger fan, and was a member of the Bengal Belles. She was an avid tennis player and a longtime member of Bocage Racquet Club in Baton Rouge. She also had a passion for swimming and was a swim instructor for many years.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Shaffer and Margaret Brazington Shaffer.

She is survived by a brother, John "Jack" Shaffer (wife Carol), a sister, Marjorie "Margie" Herman (husband Bob), the father of her children, Robert Eichelberger (wife Jackie), her three children, Debbie Payer (husband Rick), Krista Andry (husband Keith), and Jill, her grandchildren,
Russell Payer (wife Christina), Allyson Pfeffer (husband Mark), Collin Andry and Cameron Andry.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Cancer Society.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 10:00 am until services at 12:00 pm.
