Nicholas Weiss, Jr.

Nicholas John Weiss,Jr. passed away at his home on Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was 85 years old. He was born in Pittsburg, Pa. on April 12, 1927. He is survived by his loving wife, Melba Weiss his brother, Frank and his wife, Dawn, of Atlanta his children, Nicholas J. Weiss and his wife, Diane, of New Jersey, his daughter, Maria Koffskey and her husband, Wayne, of Kenner, his daughter, Frances, of Kenner, his daughter, Patience Travasos and her husband, Michael, of Baton Rouge, his stepdaughter, Marie Beth Otis and her husband, Robert, of South Carolina, and his stepson, Clyde Butch Moore and his wife, Maureen, of Shreveport. Also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica, Christina and Amanda Koffskey, Heather and Bryan Otis, April Nippins, Misty Weiss, Joshua, Timothy, Sam and Emily Moore and Dorothy Travasos and great grandchildren, Dakota, Bradley Nicholas and Sawyer Moore, Macy, Dennis, Nicholas, Tavia, Colton and Menna. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Weiss his sister, Dorothy Flaherty and a stepson, Clay Moore. Nick was an active member of St.Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a RCIA sponsor for 25 years, a Eucharistic Minister, a lector and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Funeral services will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Thursday, December 27, 2012. Visitation will be from 10:00 until Mass at 12:00. A private burial will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the Respitory Care Unit at OLOL and to St. Joseph Hospice for the wonderful care they gave him during his final illness.
