A retiree from Popes Automotive which is now Napa Auto Parts, he passed away at the age of 83 on Monday, December 12, 2011. He was a native of Melville, a resident of Baton Rouge and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Charter member, a member of the Knights of Columbus council 3298 and Past Grand Knight. He joined St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in 1960 and served as a member of the Usher Society and the Bereavement Committee. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 5pm until 8pm. Visiting will resume at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita R. Cannatella a daughter and soninlaw, Kathy and Marshall Wilson a grandson, Richard Roche III and fianc, Kate Ferrara two sisters, Phenie Jerome and Mary Ann Raudales and husband Marco of Honduras brother, Vincent Cannatella and wife Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Annie Cannatella sisters, Verna Gerace and Catherine Lushute and a brother, Joseph Cannatella. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Knights of Columbus Council 3298, 5232 Abelia Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 708081910 or to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, La. 70739.
