Born on Nov. 12, 1933, Nell was known for her firey red hair, uncanny sense of humor, and zest for life. She went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2009. She was a resident of Lake Sherwood Village Retirement Community in Baton Rouge and a native of North Carolina. Nell had a long career in retail management, having worked at JC Penney's, The Ranch, Shoe Town and Fieldcrest Cannon. She was an avid LSU and Saints football fan. She was a proud mother, Granny and Nanny to daughter Sherry and her husband, Steve Falcon; grandchildren Kristin, Scott, Andrea and Matthew Falcon; and great-grandchildren Cody, Laura, Tyler, Ryan and Hannah Falcon, all of Spring, Texas. She had a special son, Mike Sane, of Baton Rouge; and a loving daughter, Cassie and her husband, G.W. Chipper Dawson; granddaughter, Whitney Hebert; and great-grandchildren, Wesley, the sunshine of her life, and Michael, all of Baton Rouge. She is survived by stepchildren, including Shari Schaubhut, of Biloxi, Miss.; special sister-in-law, Charmaine Dunnam, of Denham Springs; and a lifelong friend, Shirley McNemar, of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by two siblings, Robert White, of Gastonia, N.C., and Mabel Cannon, of Chesne, S.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Martin and Eva Sue White; brothers, Don and Paul White; a sister, Eleanor Schutt; and husbands, Byron Durham and Gene Doughty. Pallbearers will be Joshua Phillips, Sherwood Dunnam, Buddy McKee, Riley Schaubhut, Scott Falcon and Jonathan Dunnam. Honorary pallbearers are Terri and David Cothell, Ricky Roch and Roxanne Porter. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mrs. Delores D'Benedetto for her guidance and support, as well as Patricia Johnson for her kindness and compassion.
