Needra Collins

Needra I. Collins (Nikki), passed away peacefully after an extended illness. She was born on September 28, 1927 and died on May 4, 2017.

She is survived by two sons, Steven T. Collins and wife Sheila of Madison, AL and Thomas D. Collins of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by a sister, Estelle Campbell of Jonesville, LA; four grandsons, Logan Collins and wife Jen of Baton Rouge, Luke Collins and wife Danica of Huntersville, NC, Josh Collins and wife Kristian of Orlando, FL and John Collins of Washington, D.C. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas C. Collins; her parents, Lawrence Greene and Jeannette Williams Greene; three brothers, T.L. Greene, Emmett Greene, and Raymond Greene; and a sister, Viva Dee Ford.

Visitation will begin at 9:30am on May 8, 2017 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA. Services will follow at 11:00am and burial will be at Port Hudson National Cemetery at 1:00pm.

The family extends their love and appreciation to those who have helped through the years of illness: Carolyn, Margaret Ann, Linda, Ruth, Pat, Sharon, Maylene, and Janice Sue. We thank Camellia Hospice for their care during the last months.

In lieu of flowers it is requested that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
