Nancy Tyndall (“Lucky”) Morgan passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born April 6, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to David Craig Tyndall and Claire Louise Pelletier Tyndall. A cheerleader at Sulphur High School, Nancy won ‘most popular’ in her 1971 graduating class. She received her bachelor's degree in physical education from Louisiana State University and was a member of Tri Delta sorority. She spent time as an educator in Lake Charles and briefly at a gym in Alexandria before moving to Baton Rouge. She retired in 2008 from the Louisiana Department of Social Services – Office of Family Support, serving as their training coordinator after 31 years of dedicated service.
A chance encounter at a bar that included one of her first times country dancing, led her to meeting the love of her life, Don Hopkins Morgan. Nancy would later receive the nickname “Lucky” from Don – originally intended because she married him, as they built a life together, it proved to be we were the lucky ones to have her! A personality sweeter than honey, the life of the party, beautiful and always with a smile on her face – Lucky could be summed up in one word…Remarkable!
She always had rhythm; during her teaching years, Ms. Nancy was known to join her students on the dance floor when “Brickhouse” played. Don and Lucky loved spending time on their boat at Toledo Bend. Nothing would hold her back from a day on the water, even during bad weather, Lucky could be seen in the boat, cocktail in hand. She embraced the retired life! Many mornings started with Bailey’s, a little coffee and total relaxation; that is until it was almost time for Don to come home, then she would get dressed and be ready to go out when he walked in the door – he knew if there was nothing on the stove, they were going to dinner. Although she could cook, Lucky would often say if the smoke alarm was ringing, dinner was ready.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Lucky is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Don H. Morgan; their beloved sons, Jacob Morgan and Matthew Morgan and his wife, Casey; and her heart – her grandchildren, Alexis, Wesley and Gage Morgan, and Alcee Ames. She is also survived by her brother Craig Tyndall; her sister, Susan Tyndall; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
We would like to acknowledge St. Joseph Hospice, especially Melissa and Jamie, for their special care of Lucky and our family during this time.
