Nancy Scott Long, born on April 17, 1954, passed away at her home on Friday, December 12, 2023 at the age of 69. Randal’s loving wife of 44 years left us to start her final journey. She was the mother of our children, Jonathan and Allison, which she loved very much, a doting and loving grandmother of Cayden and Adelyn. A woman with a bubbly, sometimes wacky and naive personality, who was loved by all who met her.
Nancy was born in Natchitoches, LA, the fourth of six children to W. Ray Scott and Betty McCarty Scott. She attended St. Mary’s High School and later graduated with B.S. and M.Ed. from LSU. She was a member of ZETA sorority. Upon graduation, she was employed at the Louisiana State School for the Deaf, teaching deaf, multi-handicapped children for 30 years until retirement at which times she came and said “time for a break.”
Nancy was preceded in death by both her parents, Betty and Ray Scott; and her brother, Ray Scott, Jr.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 1:30 p.m. until Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, it is Nancy’s wish that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
