Nancy Margaret DuBois Donald joined our Lord on January 21, 2023 at the age of 71.
Nancy is survived by her three sons, David (Maria), Adam (Julie), and Mark (Ashley), and nine grandchildren, Julianne, Christopher, Luke, Eric, Eleanor, Kate, Jack, Miles and Margaret “Maggie” Donald, along with her sister, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Lionel DuBois, and mother, Ethel Vincent DuBois, and beloved dogs, Deuce and Sammy.
Nancy was born on January 13, 1952 in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Lamar University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Nancy graduated with her bachelor’s degree, and then taught elementary school students prior to starting her family in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Raising her three boys was her purpose, and watching her boys become fathers brought her immense joy. With her first grandchild, Nancy took on the name “Honey,” and Honey became her identity. Honey was at her happiest when she was eating with her family, planting her toes in the sand, and, of course, holding one of her grandchildren.
For the past 22 years, she's called Baton Rouge home where she was most recently an active parishioner of St. George Catholic Church. Throughout the years, she held various jobs and volunteer roles across the Catholic communities in both Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, including serving as President of the Catholic High Mother's Club. For the past 12 years, she worked at the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board.
Funeral arrangements will be held at the Chapel at St. George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, with a visitation at 12:00 noon, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00.
The family would like to thank Dr. Castine, Dr. Tuminello and Dr. Bruce for their dedicated care of Honey over the past years. Honey is now at peace in the hands of her Lord.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
