Myrna Adams Wheeler, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on January 8, 2023, at the age of 85. She earned her bachelor's degree at Mississippi College and began teaching elementary school children at E. J. Gay School in Plaquemine, LA.
She then dedicated her time to her home church, Florida Boulevard Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Myrna served as the Director for Preschool and Mother's Day Out program for many years. During her time at FBBC, she was involved in numerous church programs and activities, ranging from Sunday School Teacher, Woman's Outreach, handbells and a devout choir member. Myrna dedicated her life to supporting, promoting and loving the FBBC family. Myrna's true love was her college sweetheart for over 60 years, Gerald Wheeler, who passed in 2020. Their love for the Lord and their family was evident in their support for their church, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They traveled the world together, spent time with family and friends and they attended LSU basketball games since the 1970's. Even with her lifelong medical challenges, she continued to smile in the face of adversity until her passing.
Myrna is survived by: sister Minnie Adams-McFadden and husband David; brother Abner Adams; daughter Sharon and husband Randy Magee; son Robert and wife Carol Wheeler; 6 grandchildren: Garnet Ann Pierce, Cory and wife Samantha Jack, Johnathan and wife Michelle Magee, Kacy and husband Del Stafford, Chase and wife Courtney Wheeler, Carli and husband Jack Faulkner; 7 great grandchildren; Caress Painter, Carson Magee, Cade and James Faulkner, Connor and Landon Jack, and Carver Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by parents E.L. Adams Jr and wife Katie Pauline Adams, sisters Alta Faye Adams, Olive Warden, Cynthia Oats; brother E. L. Adams III.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, January 13th from 12:00pm until funeral services begin at 2:00pm. A burial will follow at Resthaven in the Garden of Peace.
