Mona Abbey Kogel, age 58, a native of Elton, LA and a resident of Livingston, LA, passed away at her home on Friday, March 10, 2017 surrounded by her husband and kids.
Mona was a member of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. She loved being at her camp in Maurepas, LA and cruising on her party barge with her husband. She was a graduate of SLU and received her masters at LSU and became a social worker.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Kogel; her four kids, Erin Kogel-Perez and husband Todd, Keri Wascom and husband Chad, Kali Blackwell and husband Brandon, and Adam Kogel; her seven grandchildren, Bailey, Tod Arin, Aiden, Kayden, Carsyn, Allie, and Caroline; her two sisters, Shelia Cernek and husband Steve and Paula Manuel and husband Terry; and her in-laws, Leon and Elaine, Donnie and Pam, Mark and Kay, Vickie and Dale, Diane and Bill, Connie and Karl, Bernie, Faye, Susan, and Candy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Fern Abbey; her father-in-law, W.A. Kogel; her mother-in-laws, Bernie Mae Kogel and Margie Kogel; and her brother-in-laws, Lloyd Kogel and Billy Kogel.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be her family and friends.
