She was born February 2, 1936 in Farm Life, North Carolina. She met the love of her life, Don Furnish, in North Carolina on a blind date. They married shortly after meeting and moved to Baton Rouge where she lived for the rest of her life. After the death of her husband she moved to St. James Place, where she was cared for by a loving staff who became our dear friends. She was a long time member of Jefferson Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with a great passion. She was a great reader of the Bible and any other book she could find. She loved flowers and surrounded her home with her flower beds and roses. Her favorite colors were pink and blue and she surrounded herself with them. She was a fabulous cook. She also loved to sew and made most of her clothes and her daughters while they were growing up. She worked for 40 years at Sears in the hardware department. She had a true passion for her work. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Furnish Wire and Donna Furnish Walker beloved sonsinlaw, Walter Wire and Dr. Robert Walker grandchildren, Benjamin Walker, Laura Walker Alba, William Walker, and Elliot Wire. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Furnish. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be given to St. James Assisted Living or Carpenter House.
