Miriam Lacoste

Miriam Elizabeth Lacoste passed away peacefully at her residence on April 1, 2021. A native of La Ceiba, Honduras, she lived in New Orleans, LA, Slidell, LA, Winter Haven, FL, and was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA for the last number of years.  Miriam was 70 years of age.

Beloved wife of 38 years to the late Harold Joseph Lacoste. Mother of Abdala Flores (Martha), Zaida Lopez (Johnnie), Carla Zuniga, Gerardina Berthelot (Raymond), Marco Lopez (Olga), Harold Lacoste (Amber), and the late Raymond Olsen.  Grandmother of Nazli Flores, Robert Lopez, Romario Lopez, Kayleen Olsen, Jose Rodriguez, Jade Rodriguez, Oriana Berthelot, Greysi Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, Raegan Obeidzinski, Riley Lacoste, Dean Lacoste, and Deklan Lacoste. Miriam is also mourned by the Lacoste family of New Orleans, who embraced her and her children with open arms into the family, including Michael Lacoste (Arana) and Darlene Stromeyer (Lawrence J.) Daughter of the late Lidia “Lila” Zuniga, Miriam is also survived by her siblings Edilberto Zuniga, Oscar Zuniga, Mario Zuniga, Rigoberto Zuniga, Fernando Menjivar Zuniga, Carlos Menjivar Zuniga, Rosalba Zuniga Bodden, Sandra Zuniga, and Luzmarina Zuniga Vivas. She is also mourned by many loving nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

She was a faithful member of the Jefferson Ridge Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Miriam was often described as being vibrant, uncompromising, honest, strong willed yet generous beyond compare. She was unshakable in her faith and beliefs and, as one described her, “she opened and closed the dance floor.” Miriam will be sorely missed.
