Captain Milton L. Stokley, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He was a disabled veteran in the Army, survived by his wife Marlene Verbois Stokley and their three children, Chris (Rachel), Greg (Kelly), and Michelle (Mark) Miller and two sisters Betty Jean (Tim) Mauldin, Christine Phillips, and brother Herman Stokley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evigan and Bertha Stokley and his older brother, W.E. He had six beloved grandchildren -Raven Stokley, Gabrielle Stokley, Savanah Stokley, Shaye Stokley, Brandon Stokley and "The Baby", Evangeline Miller. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved as well. Milton graduated from LSU with two degrees, was a tax accountant, founder of NCPE Tax Seminars, and owner of Joe D's Grocery before retiring. He loved being a baseball coach for many years with his sons' teams. His love for all things involving ice cream is legendary along with his striking white hair and the ability to fix everything with duct tape. He had a hard life, but he never let it show. We will miss him the rest of our lives. Visitation will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow. All services held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Services will be officiated by Pastor Steve Beckham, former ballplayer considered another son.
