Miles Seifert, a resident of Baton Rouge and a retired chemical engineer, died in his home Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, following a threemonth battle with advanced cancer at age 62. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Miles was an active leader at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church and loved singing in the choir and tutoring. He held BS and MS degrees in chemical engineering from Tulane University and a MBA from LSU. He was passionate about technology, science and education. His quick wit and wonderful, dry sense of humor will be remembered. A loving father, a loyal friend and a good husband, he will be truly missed. Visitation at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 9340 Florida Blvd., from noon Saturday, March 6, until the memorial service at 2 p.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Hawley Wolfe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Susan Bolner Seifert, of Baton Rouge daughters, Sheila Seifert Castette and husband Sean, Lindsey Seifert Hammond and husband Vic, all of Chicago and son, Carl Eric Seifert and fiance, Corey Funderburk, of New Orleans. Miles also had three grandchildren, Ethan Miles Castette, Kelsey Susan Castette and Aidan Cordell Castette. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Fisher Seifert and his father, Carl Ernst Seifert. The family wishes to extend special thanks to friends, caregivers and St. Joseph Hospice for exceptional care and kindness.
