Mildred Stephens McCay Savage

Mildred Stephens McCay Savage, a resident of Williamsburg Retirement Community, died Friday February 6 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 20, 1923 to Joel Jesse Stephens and Mary Lee Inice Nickens in East Point, LA. The family later moved to Baton Rouge and she graduated from Baton Rouge High School. She was retired from East Baton Rouge Parish Assessor's office.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Susan McCay Hustmyre, Patricia McCay Teel (Gary); daughter-in-law, Merrilee Audioun McCay; seven grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, John L. McCay, Sr.; second husband, Tom Savage; son, John L. McCay, Jr.; her parents, Joel and Mary Lee Stephens; brothers, J.V. Stephens, Ulysses Stephens and Aubrey Stephens; sisters, Ruby Stephens Johnson, Blanche Stephens Arbour, and Jessie Stephens Easterly; and her son-in-law, Charles A. Hustmyre III.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 11 AM until 1PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 1 PM at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home. Officiant will be Rev. Katie McKay Simpson of First United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Hustmyre, Jonathan Hustmyre, Brett Mathis, Joel Stephens, Dwain Varisco, Sr., and Dwain Varisco, Jr.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
