Mildred Johnson

Mildred Sue Miller Johnson (Sue to all who knew her) passed away at age 77 on Thursday, August 25, 2022, surrounded by family and friends, following an extended battle with many health issues.

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Sue was born September 4, 1944, in Amite, Louisiana. She retired after a long career with the Louisiana Department of Elections and Registration.

Sue is survived by her son, Carl Michael Johnson; 1 brother, Marvin Glenn Miller (Patsy); 3 grandchildren, Cory (Alexis), Michael (Christy), and Channing; 2 great-grandchildren, Meredith and Hailey; 2 nieces, Ashley (Mike) and Leshia (Jeff); 1 great-niece, Avery; 3 great-nephews, Cooper, Derek (Andrea), and Cody; 3 great-great-nephews, Parker, Kaleb, and Mark; and her best friend of more than 40 years, Carolyn Young.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Albert (Shorty) and Maggie Ree M. Miller, and her soulmate, Shelton (Shaun) Johnson.

Sue loved sports. If there was a football game on TV, you could bet she was watching it! A very caring and supportive person, Sue will be missed by too many to count.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Sue’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.

A private celebration of Sue’s life will be held with family and friends on her birthday.
