Mildred Sweeney Gilbert

Mildred S. Gilbert, born on May 9, 1932, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 92.

Mildred was born in Sunny Hill, LA. She graduated from Istrouma High School. She held many occupations most of her life, including legal secretary, school bus driver, and an administrative assistant for Parkview Baptist Church. Mildred always enjoyed crocheting, cooking, visiting friends, church services, and church activities. 

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Celesa L. Boudreaux and Melissa Brenda Fletcher (Ricky L. Fletcher); grandchildren, Kim Albritton (Sterling), Brandon Crain, Bradley Boudreaux, Ashley Crain, Jeremy Fletcher, and Whitney Dougherty (Ryan); and 10 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Winfred Joseph Gilbert; and parents, Felder L. Sweeney and Leonie A. McDaniel Sweeney.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful church family at Parkview Baptist Church. 

Visitation will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, beginning at 1:30 PM until services 2:30 PM. Services will be officiated by Brother Merlin Liverman.
