Michael Z. Zatorski, age 84, of Baton Rouge, LA, formerly of Highland, IN, passed away on July 16, 2022. He was born in Parry, Poland, on July 11, 1938. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jan & Sabina Zatorski, and son, Steven Jeffrey Zatorski.
Mike came to America from England with his family when he was nine years old. They were sponsored by the Penkala family whom they lived with until they were settled. Mike attended Purdue University and graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, he was employed by E.I. DuPont in East Chicago, IN, as a Chemical Supervisor and later transferred to the Burnside, LA location in 1986 where he retired as a Production Manager in 1993. Mike filled his early retirement years with different jobs. He was an independent contractor at various chemical and engineering firms, worked on home improvement projects for many people, and finally completed his retirement at VIP on a part-time basis performing miscellaneous jobs and becoming their all-around handyman.
Mike is survived by wife, Carolyn R. Zatorski, loving father to his children: Elizabeth Hinkle of South Bend, IN; Jennifer Holmes of Indianapolis, IN; Susan Misiura of Parrish, FL; and David (Nicole) Zatorski of Rockville, IN; and step-daughter, Jacqueline (Rennie) Moseley of Baton Rouge, LA. He has twelve grandchildren: Lauren (Andrew) Thomas, Matthew Hinkle, Lindsey Hinkle, Mark Hinkle, Benjamin Holmes, Zackary Misiura, Abigail Misiura, Nicholas Misiura, Erica Zatorski, Tyler Berthelot, Jessica Berthelot, and Eric Berthelot; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Sophia; one brother, Jeffrey (Carmen) Zatorski; and uncle to his niece and nephews of Houston, TX; a cousin, Donna (Andrew) Wencel of Munster, IN.
Mike’s hobbies included fishing with wife Carol and his family at their fishing camp in Leeville, LA, and was a Mr. Fix-It guy to all, earning the nickname “Miracle Mikey.” Mike spent his last years fixing up his home and the surrounding grounds, so that all would be taken care of for his devoted wife.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA from 1:00-3:00 PM, followed with a Christian service beginning at 3:00 PM.
