Michael Uter

Michael J Uter, age 77, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on September 8, 2022, at his home.  He attended Sacred Heart, Catholic High School, and graduated from Louisiana State University Law School.

Michael was a farmer/rancher in Bude, MS supplemented by his 53-year legal career in Baton Rouge.  Everyone knew come Thursday that he was headed North!  He spent his weekends working on his farm, but never called it work.  He had a green thumb that many envied and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor.  He loved to fish and would hunt anything that was in season and then was able to turn his gatherings into a delicious feast for all!

Michael was quick at wit and often verbalized his thoughts, even if he shouldn’t have.  He did soften up some in his later years, but you still knew where you stood with him!  His love for his family was as strong as it gets! He was one of a kind and will be missed by his wife, children, and his friends.

Michael is survived by his wife, Micheline M Uter; his children, Kristen Mayeaux and her husband Kenny, Brennan Uter and his wife Ashley, and Eric Uter; his brother, Marion Uter and wife Cindy; his grandchildren, Branson Gilly, Nathan Gilly, Emily Uter, Adeline Uter, and Elle Uter as well as 2 step grandchildren, Emory and Britton Mayeaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Hazel Uter and his brother, Daniel Uter.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 1:30 until services at 3:30. Burial will follow at a later date with family.
